St. Mary of the Lake Middle School Language Arts Program
|
| Language Arts is a complex subject area that promotes the ability to think critically and thoughtfully analyze concepts/ideas. In grades 6-8 students will be exposed to different forms of literature. Our goal is that they are able to read, comprehend, and gain insight into the text with which they are working. Students will also experience the writing process by delving into a variety of genres, such as descriptive, narrative, persuasive, and expository writing. They will be focusing on producing a piece of writing that clearly expresses their original ideas. Included in this written communication aspect a study of grammar, vocabulary, and spelling will be promoted. Throughout their courses the students will also effectively develop their essential oral communication skills. The middle school Language Arts program at St. Mary of the Lake strives to provide a solid foundation with which our students will successfully transition into their high school careers and beyond. |
