Parish Staff

	Fr. Talbot Pastor	Fr. Talbot was born in Anoka, MN (the Halloween Capitol of the World). He attended St. Stephen Catholic School for grades 1-8 and graduated from Anoka Senior High School.  He received his undergraduate degree in secondary education from St. Cloud State University and his law degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He had the great privilege of serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami, Florida for ten years, prosecuting all types of criminal cases.  In 1998, he returned to Minnesota, entered the St. Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas and was ordained a priest of the archdiocese on May 29, 2004.  Fr. Talbot served as parochial vicar of the Cathedral of Saint Paul for one year and in July 2005 was named pastor of St. Jude of the Lake in Mahtomedi, where he served for six years.
	Fr. Roger Pierre Pastor Emeritus	Father Roger Pierre grew up in Mahtomedi and attended St. Jude of the Lake as a child. He was ordained in 1963, and served in five other parishes before he came to St. Mary of the Lake as pastor in 1990. Father Roger served as our senior associate pastor from 2002 until his retirement on December 31, 2006.
	Mary Scherping	Parish Administrator Mary is a finance professional (CPA/MBA) who worked in the health care industry prior to joining the St. Mary’s staff in 2001 as the Parish Administrator. She is responsible for parish finances, facilities, personnel, communication, cemetery, and all “business” aspects of the parish.

	Helen Welter	Director of Sacraments and Worship Originally from St. Michael MN, Helen taught in Catholic high school, served as director of religious education, Confirmation, and young adult ministry at several area churches, and worked as a legislative aide to a St. Paul City Councilmember, before joining St. Mary’s staff in 1997. She coordinates weekend liturgies and prepares families for the first reception of sacraments.
	Liz Racine	Director of Liturgical Music Liz comes from a varied background in the field of music; always a vocalist, public school music education teacher, vocal jazz ensemble director, member of the Dale Warland Singers, and over 25 years in music ministry in the Twin Cities. Liz came on board at St. Mary’s in 2005 as the Adult Choir Director. Since then, her job has expanded to music coordinator and most recently to Liturgical Music Director, in 2009.
	Karlene Feidt	Director of Faith Formation Karlene grew up in Hugo and graduated from White Bear High School. She has an Elementary Education degree from the College of St. Catherine and is a recent graduate of the St. Paul School of Divinity with a Masters in Religious Education. Before joining the staff at St. Mary’s in 2004, Karlene spent three years coordinating the elementary and preschool programs at St. John’s in Hugo. Here at St. Mary’s, Karlene is the director of the Faith Formation program, nursery through Adult ages, coordinates the Elementary Program and assists with Sacramental preparation for First Eucharist.
	Justin Kelly	Coordinator of Middle School and High School Faith Formation Justin is a life-long member of St. Mary's Parish and a St. Mary's School graduate. He graduated cum laude from St. John's University with a degree in Natural Science and a minor in Secondary Education. He spent his summers during college coordinating summer programs at St. Mary's. After graduating, he taught in a public high school before joining St. Mary's as Coordinator of Youth Formation in 2005. Justin coordinates the Middle and High School Faith Formation programs, as well as organizing many service and social opportunities for older youth, including the Workcamp Mission Trip.

	Julie Orloske	Technology Coordinator Julie holds an associate’s degree from Minnesota School of Business, mini master of software design & development from the University of St. Thomas. She worked in the private sector as an IT Manager/System Analyst working with or writing a wide range of business applications.
