Confirmation
“Be Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit" are the words of the Bishop to each youth being Confirmed. It is the completion of baptismal grace, preparing one for ever deeper living of the Eucharist, Christ's presence in the world though our "hands and feet."
Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation. At St. Mary’s preparation for the sacrament involves the family - either a sponsor or a parent - in all the sessions with the youth. There are interactive, intergenerational prayer, discussions and activities, speakers, service opportunities and fun.Participation in Confirmation preparation requires -
• At least one full year of faith formation prior to and including the year of preparation in either a Catholic school or Faith Formation program
• A copy of the certificate of baptism is required if the child was not baptized at St. Mary's
• A $30 program fee plus materials for a service project
Preparation sessions for Confirmation begin in January each year. The Confirmation Mass is held at the Cathedral of St. Paul in May.The Confirmation Schedule provides information on preparation classes, the Confirmation Mass and other important dates.
